Hi,
I have been using the TMS320F28388D control card and have found that the on board XDS100v2 emulation functionality that allows for a single usb connection to access both JTAG and serial interfaces convenient. I am now looking at making my own custom board and was considering using the schematics provided as a reference design to integrate the same functionality into my application. Is it OK to re-use the circuits provided on the controlCard schematic? If so, I don't want to break anything does TI provide the EEPROM configuration binary needed to configure the FTDI device? It seems like it would be easy to misconfigure the device and have nothing work the way it should unless there was an application note stepping through the requirements.
Our product has a long life time. I see that the XDS100v2 TI product is already been replaced, how long does TI plan to support the probe. I would hate to spec in the on board emulator just to have it deprecated.
If it is not recommended to use the on-board emulator, do you have an example board schematic for using the external probes and serial interfaces needed to replace the functionality on the existing controlCard.
Thanks,
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
Technically yes, you could do this. Please read the thread below asking a similar question. However, embedding the emulator on your board can add cost & complexity, and you may instead consider using a standalone emulator (e.g. TMDSEMU110-U).
