TMDSEMU110-U: XDS110 debug probe not working - (Error -1135 @ 0x0) The debug probe reported an error.

I am trying to program a tms320f28069m MCU with the XDS110 debug probe. I have several of these debug probes. I can program the MCU fine with one XDS110, then I try to program the same MCU with a different XDS110 and am getting the mentioned error message. I then try the first XDS110 probe and the MCU programs fine, so it is an issue with the second XDS110.

Things I have tried to resolve this issue:

1. Use the xdsdfu command line tool located in C:\ti\ccs1010\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110 to reset the probe. Probe resets, same issue.

2. Use the xdsdfu command line tool located in C:\ti\ccs1010\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110 to write firmware firmware_3.0.0.13.bin to the probe. Firmware updates, same issue.

3. Use the xdsdfu command line tool located in C:\ti\ccs1010\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110 to ensure configuration 1 is used for programming. Configuration confirmed, same issue.

4. Tried the same USB cable as the working probe, same issue.

5. Tried the same JTAG cable as the working probe, same issue.

I am wondering, is this an issue with the hardware and if so, how can I debug this?

Brian,

When you connect the non-working emulator to the PC, does it enumerate properly in windows device manager? Is it similar to working emulator?

Hi Santosh,

For your information, the failing XDS110 has just worked to program an MSP432E401Y MCU, yet still failing with the tms320f28069m, whilst the working probe can program both fine.

Brian,

Are there any pull resistors on the F28069M JTAG signals?

The XDS110 has had trouble overcoming strong pulls in the past so it might be worth experimenting with pull values. For example, if using a 2.2-kΩ resistor, try a 10-kΩ.

Hi Santosh/Tommy,

I can't see how this could be the issue when one programmer works fine and another identical programmer does not. Surely this is an issue with the programmer hardware/software?

Brian,

You have already gone through the updating the firmware on non-working XDS110 emulator? Is that correct? The firmware update is done successfully, without any error?
