TMS320F28335: Which chip can replace TMS320F28335?

Part Number: TMS320F28335
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28075, TMS320F28377S, TMS320F28379D

Hi everyone:

We have used TMS320F28335 for 8 years. What are the future plans for this chip.If this chip is no longer in production in the future, which chip we can choose to replace it.We want to make minimal hardware and software changes if we replace this chip。

Thanks and regards!

  • Hello,

There are no plans to stop production on this device. It is very popular in long-running industrial and automotive applications.

For new projects F2833x customers typically choose something from F2837x/07x series as part of Generation 3 devices (see more at www.ti.com/c2000 towards bottom of the page)

    Ex:

TMS320F28075: lower cost option but similar performance, flash, upgraded analog

    TMS320F28377S: single core (+ CLA co-processor)

    TMS320F28379D: dual core (+ 2x CLA)

  • Hi,ChrisClearman:

F2837x/07x series are not compatible with 28335 in hardware。

Do you have any plans to introduce a new chip whitch is compatible with 28335 in hardware and software or only in hardware?

    Thanks and regards!

  • Pengchong,

There is quite a bit of compatibility between F28335 and newer F2837x / 07x devices.  Not HW pin-pin, but available in same/similar packages with enhanced performance and peripherals at lower costs.

No plans for more direct pin-pin roadmap devices.
