Hi,

I have checked out many threads regarding upgrading the firmware of the TMS320F28388D and I know that so far there are no "ّFlash Kernel" and "Flash API" for this chip. We would like to do Live Firmware Update for this chip about which I have two questions:

1) Are there any alternative solutions to upgrade the firmware? Even if we could only update CPU1 and CPU2 (without the Cortex-M4) that should still suffice.

2) If there are no Flash Kernel and API for TMS320F28388D, then how does JTAG is able to program the chip? Can we implement whatever method JTAG is using?

Flash APIs are definitely available. For example, see here within C2000Ware: libraries\flash_api\f2838x\c28x\lib

F2838x Flash kernel is currently in development.

You could use existing Flash kernels for F2837xD and create a F2838xD Flash kernel yourself - that's an option. Another option is to try 3rd parties e.g. Codeskin.

A similar question was asked by another user, but their focus was more on the CM side.

Just an idea Sira....a workaround for updating flash firmware from Ethernet would be really helpful on this connected world!!

We typically push those types of customer requests to 3rd parties, who provide such features.
