Part Number: DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT
Hi ,
i bought NEMA 23 industrial grade motor, while testing i found the index pulse is missing in the encoder.
A,B pulses is getting fine but index pulse is always on high position (5v) , i need to get the speed and position since i am doing FOC in the motor .
is there any chance for replacement of motor ?
Hello,
A subject-matter expert reply your question. However, we have been dealing with inclement weather and power outages in the area and responses may be slow.
Haritha,

Hi Cody,
1. We received motor on Jan 26th 2021, less than a month. while using the motor we identified the problem.
2. We purchased from TI website,
a. Yeah, we purchased along with KIT ( BOOSTER XL - DRV 8301)
b. Motor Part No. M-2310P-LN-O4K.
3. We have provided 5v power supply from F280049C Launchpad to encoder, In DSO Index pulse of the encoder shows always high. even if we rotate the motor also its showing the same.
Here I am attaching the DSO image for your reference as well.

Haritha,
what physical wires are connected to the launchPad and what pins on the LaunchPad are the wires connected to?
I know this sounds trivial, but I would like to make sure that you haven't connected the wrong wires from the encoder to the launchPad or power supply/ ground.
Additionally when adding images please use the " Insert/Edit Media" button:

Hi Cody,
Motor encoder is checked by primary test.
I just rotated motor with hand, I have given encoder Black wire to ground and Red wire to Vcc (5v) then checked the A(Blue wire), B(Orange wire) and index(Brown wire) pulses in DSO.
A,B pulses are getting while rotating motor with hand which is exactly 90 degree phase shift but index pulse is always showing high (5v) irrespective of motor rotation . now I think this make it clear there is something issue with encoder , here i am attaching the encoder and DSO images for more clarification
so please guide me to make a motor replacement , since I think this is encoder issue.
Haritha,
if you wish to have a return please start the return process here https://www.ti.com/productreturns/docs/createReturn.tsp . Since this was a purchase from the TI Store it should be supported by this form.
Additionally in the form please reference this post as your approval for return.

Cody
Hi Cody,
I have filled up TI replacement forum with all the detailed documents of failure analysis, but they declined two times.
Please suggest a way to sort it out and to make replacement as soon as possible. The motor is also having a warranty of 36 months.
Here I am attaching the decline message from TI

Hi Cody,
I have already filled up this TI replacement forum with all the detailed documents, the uploaded documents are shown which is a part of complete replacement forum request, but they declined two times.
the attached one in previous post was decline message from TI , but no detailed information regarding why declining the forum.
is there any other method available for the replacement of motor.
Regards,
Haritha hari
Haritha,
the reply shown in the previous post(march 4th) indicated that you requested "failure analysis" and stated that " Failure analysis(FA) is not supported for EVMs.".
We do not preform failure analysis on EVMs, however we do return EVMs on a per case basis. I believe you have filled out the form incorrectly requesting
"failure analysis" to be done.
If this is the case please resubmit the form requesting a replacement. If you feel that you have correctly submitted the form please send me your case or ticket number and i'll try to look into it.
Regards,
Cody
