MSP430FR5969: Powered from 3.6V non-rechargeable primary lithium battery.

Part Number: MSP430FR5969
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62175

Dear support,

My customer is trying to power the MSP430FR5969 directly with a 3.6V non-rechargeable primary lithium battery.

A battery of this type, usually has an open circuit voltage a tad higher than 3.6V, and it is usually 3.63-3.65Volts. We wondered if this could be a problem, given that the maximum supply voltage is at 3.6V.

They are having some misfunctioning after days of work when the flow direction of the ESI is changed, which I think are related to the battery fluctuations when more current is drawn.

I advise them to use a LDO to stepdown to 3.3V, but they are still interested in powering directly from the battery.

Is it possible  to connect the MSP430FR5969 directly to a primary lithium 3.6V battery as they do?

Thanks and best regards,

Juan.
