Part Number: MSP430FR2355
Hi,
My customer is asking what is XT1 crystal requirements for Low Frequency and High Frequency.
- Frequency stability
- Frequency tolerance by temp
- Frequency tolerance by aging
Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro

Hi, Tashiro,
Could you check MSP430FR2355 datasheet for the detailed XT1 oscillator specification? It is in section 5.12.3 of MSP430FR235x, MSP430FR215x Mixed-Signal Microcontrollers datasheet (Rev. D).
In MSP430FR2355, XT1 is just an ocillator. It will work with external crystal to output the frequency. For the frequency stability, tolerance by temp and aging, they depend on the crystal specfication.
Thanks,
Lixin
Hi Lixin,
Thanks for your reply. I already checked data sheet section 5.12.3, but it does not provide required stability, etc.
It will work with external crystal to output the frequency. For the frequency stability, tolerance by temp and aging, they depend on the crystal specfication.
Do you mean MSP device does not require a specific stability/tolerance limit?
Any crystals can be used?
Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro
Hi, Koichiro,
I have mentioned "For the frequency stability, tolerance by temp and aging, they depend on the crystal specfication". It means these performance is depending on the external crystal which is working with MSP430FR2355.
For example. if the crystal is 20ppm across temp and aging. The XT1 frequency stability is also 20ppm across temp and aging.
For which crystal can be used, please check the specificaiton of table 5-3 (XT1 CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR (LOW FREQUENCY)) in the datasheet. Please note teh OAlfxt should be met.
