MSP430I2040: Flashing tool for MSP430

Hello,

For the development I used Launchpad to flash our application board (MSP430i2040).

But for production which programmer should I suggest?

I have MSP430 USB-Debug-Interface MSP-FET430UIF programmer. I tried with it 2 wire JTAG connection (TDI/TDO, TCK, VCC, GND) with application board but couldnt flash it.

Do I need to have any extra board between USB-Debug-Interface MSP-FET430UIF programmer and application board to get it flashed?

My problem is I can flash my application board with MSP-EXP430F5529LP using spy bi wire protocol. But with MSP430USB-Dedug_intefacr MSP-FET430UIF if gives error Error connecting to the target: Unknown device. What could be the reason?

Have you checked that your MSP-FET connections with your board are correct? I'm assuming you're using jumper wires. Make sure you are applying power externally (use VCC_TARGET pin on MSP-FET) or using the MSP-FET (use VCC_TOOL pin). Also, make sure another device isn't holding the MSP430 in reset.

Hello,

Connections are correct. Using VCC_TARGET for power up the application board. Another device is not holding msp430 in reset.

Same board I can program with Launchpad MSP-EXP430F5529LP using bi-wire but not with MSP-FET?

Please follow the hardware connection below to use Spy-Bi-Wire

FET430UIF pin 1 connect to msp430 RST pin, pin 2 to VCC, pin7 to TESTpin and pin 9 to GND
