MSP430FR2476: SYSCFG3 question

Part Number: MSP430FR2476

FIRST QUESTION:

I need to use:

a) I2C in P4.3 and P4.4
b) PWM on P4.0 (TA3.1) If I program SYSCFG3 |= USCIB1RMP | TA3RMP;
the I2C works correctly but the PWM does not.

If I program

SYSCFG3 |= USCIB1RMP;
I2C and PWM are working properly. Why?

SECOND QUESTION:

How it should be interpreted "Only one selected port is valid at any time." at the bottom of page 19 of SLASEO7B –MARCH 2019 – REVISED DECEMBER 2019. Thank you.
  • 1) Per data sheet (SLASEO7B) Table 6-16, the P4 pin-set is the "default" (note (1)) setting i.e. with TA3RMP=0.

    2) I think that statement just means that (depending on the RMP bit setting) you either get one pin-set or the other. I suppose that if you set the PSELs for the not-selected pin-set you get no signal at all.
