I would like to understand what changes need to be made to change from MSP430F5247 to MSP430F5257.

Do customer need both hardware and software changes?

Are you trying to implement a specific feature across both devices/could you expand more on what you are using the boards for? Changes might need to be made specific to the implementation.

Hi Amruta,

I would like to know if it is a pin to pin replacement without needing hardware changes. The MSP430F5247/9 are both out of stock, so I am trying to find an alternative with least amount of changes needed. Just based on the high level overview, I can't tell what kind of changes would be required.

Could you advise if hardware/software changes are needed to change from F5247 to F5257?

Hi Connie,

Assuming you are comparing the 64-pin RGC packages of both boards, you can see from the screenshots from the datasheet below that they are similar; however, there are a few differences to note:

The F5257 does not have a pin output for TB0 (see P7.0 - P7.5), which might affect PWM output applications, etc. Port mapping with TB0, however, is possible.
The pins highlighted in blue on the F5257 are powered from DVIO, which means that their max voltage is 1.8V. There may need to be some changes made on which pins you are using if you were previously using these pins on the F5247.
