MSP430I2040: MSP430I2040 ADC Inputs and ESD Diodes

Part Number: MSP430I2040

Hi,

I am using the msp430i2040  ADC for monitoring an analog voltage that comes from another unsynchronized supply source.

Is it OK to connect 2.5V through 10kohm to one of the “A” inputs (e.g.  A0.0) when the msp430i2040 has marginal or no supply voltage ?

Data sheet specify 2m A for the “maximum rating A input Diode current at pins ” , Does it means that this current can be driven into the msp430i2040 with no damage to the msp430i2040 I.C in all conditions ?

Does it make sense that when the device is not well powered at it’s VCC input the voltage at it’s ADC pin will enable it to continue operation (un reliable operation / toggling outputs) ?

Thank you

Avi
