MSP430F5419A: differences between A and non A parts

Part Number: MSP430F5419A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5419, , TCA6424

We have been using the MSP430F5419A for a while on a system. Due to part shortages purchasing bought MSP430F5419. I would like to know what the difference is to see if it will affect our design. I assume the compiler can do the work arounds if we specify the non A version.

Also I dont know if I can include this in the same thread but I have the same issue with the  TCA6424ARGJR and the   TCA6424RGJR.

Thanks

Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

there were substantial changes between the  "A" and "non-A" version of MSP430F54xx parts. There where quite a few errata on the "non-A" parts that were addressed in the "A" version. there will most likely be some changes to your code in order to get the device to behave in the manner you expect.

For a complete lists of errata that were fixed between the versions, please compare the errata sheets between the two versions. You can also look at this migration guide for potential differences : www.ti.com/lit/slaa419

  • Hi Jace.H

Thanks for the link regarding the 5419 to 5419A migration. Do you have any similar info regarding the TCA6424ARGJR and the   TCA6424RGJR.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • Kevin,

You would need to make a new post discussing those chips specifically as they are covered by a different forum and group within TI.
