MSP430I2040: EMDC showing blank values under Results

Hi,

When I download the code generated by EMDC for MSP430I2041 and flash it into the MSP430I2040, I open the EMDC (EVM430-i2040S-SH-1V-1C-50Hz project and click on the "connected" icon, it says HID connected in the bottom. However when I click on the "Results" tab, all voltage, current, energy and all values are blank. It used to work earlier.

The connections are as shown for PC to msp430F5529(HID bridge) to MSP- Isolation board to MSP430I2040S EVM. The code flashed is the code generated for the EVM430-i2040S-1V-1C-50Hz without any changes.

Can you please tell me what the issue is?

Hello,

Try closing and reopening the EMDC GUI. Make sure the project that is open in the EMDC GUI matches what's been programmed on the device - they should match to ensure proper communication.

Hi James,

When I click on the "Connected" button in the EMDC GUI, it says the device id(MSP430I2040) and firmware version and when this is printed, it shows the energy values under the results column. However most of the time it says "HID connected" instead of the Device id and firmware version and in this case the Results column is blank. I also tried closing and re-opening the EMDC GUI but most of the time I get blank results column. Is there something wrong I am doing or is it a bug or is it the versionn of the EMDC? I am using version 1_40_00_03.

Please let me know what could be going wrong.

Hello,

You have two threads going at the same time with slightly different topics. Let's focus on this one before the other.

MSP430I2040: COM port (serial port) not working after modifying EMDC code

For this issue, it sounds like your connections aren't correct or are loose. Are you following the connections described in the EMDC Technology Guide?

Also, you didn't address my comment about using a different project on the device compared to the GUI. It's very important that they match or else you may see this issue. If you've modified the EMDC example projects in the GUI, then they may not work with the example binaries that are provided.

Hi James,

Can we look at the COM port issue for now? That issue is more important currently. because in the final configuration we do not plan to use the communication protocol used in the EMDC

To answer your previous questionn, I am using the same unchanged EMDC generated code for MSP430I2040 to communicate with the EMDC GUI on the PC. I only made some changes to write some strings to the COM port just after COM port init. Can that create an issue?
