MSP430F5358: CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR REQUIRED FOR ACTIVE MODE OPERATION - XT1 or XT2

In our design, we are using MSP430F5358 as a Board Management Controller, It supports maximum 20MHz freq.

we are not going to use low power modes available.

So which oscillator should we use for active mode of operation(for maximum frequency support)

1) 32.768KHz (XT1 LF mode) or

2) XT2 High frequecny oscillator - support crystal in the range (4MHz to 32MHz range)

Unless you need the high accuracy of a crystal, you don't need one as the DCO should cover your requirements.

As David stated, you can just the internal DCO with the internal REFO clocking the FLL if power is not a concern.
