LaunchPad emulator for MSP430F2274???

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F2274, MSP430G2231

We have projects that use the MSP430F2274 and others that use the MSP430G2231. The LaunchPad emulator is easy to use to program and debug the MSP430G2231 projects by removing the five jumpers, and connecting just three wires between the emulator and the project board (ground, test, reset). However, I tried this with two different MSP430F2274 projects, and I got an error message, the same as if the emulator was not connected to a project.

I would really like to make this work because it would allow me to program the MSP430F2274 projects using only three wires (the standard USB FET debugger requires four wires). Is there any way to use the LaunchPad emulator to program an MSP430F2274, or is that disabled somehow, or sufficiently different that it is not allowed?
