MSP430F2012: MSP430F2012TRSA and MSP430F2012IRSA Quiescent Current

Part Number: MSP430F2012

HI
At present, MSP430F2012TRSA is used instead of MSP430F2012IRSA. All the circuits are the same. Only replace the MCU, but when measuring the quiescent current of the system, it is increased from 0.68uA to 3.5~15uA. Isn't the two MCUs only different in operating temperature? It is still mentioned that they have different characteristics, otherwise Why are the quiescent currents inconsistent.

  • Hello Chen,

Yes, that seem high for room temp, even high for the 105C spec.

When measuring the quiescent current, do you have any programming or debugging tool connected to the MSP430?

What low power mode is the MSP430 in during this measurement?

Are you using the ACLK and if so are you using an external 32KHz crystal on LFXT1 as the clock source or internal VLO clock?
