My launchpad doesn't work anymore

Hi

Sorry by my english

the updater doesn't recognize my launchpad. It says that i don't have i g2xxx device in socket. it is hapening since today morning, after that i tryed update the temperature sensor firmware. In the midle of the update hapened a erro message.

Beyond all this, the CCS doesn't recognize too.

  • Lenival,

Given that the update failed, I would try to perform it again. One way to do this is to download FET-Pro430:

    http://www.elprotronic.com/files/FET-Pro430-Lite-Setup.zip

Look at the tools menu and you can read the firmware version as well as update it. This is not for the MSP430 but rather for the programmer in the launchpad. By the way, you might need to select the right tool in Setup -> Connection/Device Reset.

If it tells you there's no device in the socket, it could be a programmer failure, but please make sure the IC is correctly in the socket and that there is power.

  • hey,

I got the same problem. But it is not a problem of updater. It was updated about two weeks ago.It was working well after that. But last monday, the programmer parts  started to generate heat while  connected to the computer. After a short while it was gone.

Not anymore it is recognized by the CCS nor Updater.

    :(

  • Did you attach any external power source to the LaunchPad? Or connect it to any other equipment that is connected to an AC driven power source (switching power supply) or earth-connected components?
Then it might be that there was a destructive cross-voltage/current due to different grounding levels. Remember, the LaunchPad is connected to the PC power supply through USB.
In a different thread, this was causing a differential voltage of 12V, instantly frying the MSP (it was a custom board and a 'real' FET, but the problem is the same).
