MSP430FR2355: help setting watchpoint??? Don't seem to work.

Part Number: MSP430FR2355

I am trying to set a watchpoint on a data write to a variable.  I run the code but the code never halts when the even occurs ( I have it set to halt target).  I am confident it is occurring because I am capturing it on the logic analyzer.

Can someone plz tell me what I am doing wrong?  (Watchpoints seem VERY sensitive and unreliable as to whether they work)

After a download I get the following error on the console....I have no other breakpoints set.

MSP430: Trouble Setting Breakpoint with the Action "Finish Auto Run" at 0x8120: Software breakpoint conflicts with one or more enabled hardware triggers

  • Hi,

Could you send a screenshot about your code including the breakpoint you set.

You might need to remove all your breakpoints before a download. It can avoid the error you got.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Cash....

Thanks for the response....I am new to watchpoints so maybe I am doing something wrong here....I was under the impression that I could create one and enable it within the breakpoints window and NOT set a hard breakpoint in the code.  My dilemma is I have a register / variable that is getting modified in many places in my code (which is about 2000 lines in 7 or so files).  I cannot set a hard breakpoint within the code as I really have no clue where the bad write is coming from......My hope was that I could set a watchpoint and enable it and the code would miraculously stop at the point that the write happens thus revealing the location of where I am doing something incorrectly......

    Is this not the case?

    Thanks

    Steve
