EVM430-F6736: ACS712 current sensor for current measurement

Part Number: EVM430-F6736

Hello,

I have this EVM430-F6736 evaluation board with me. I wanted to try out ACS712 current sensor module with the evaluation board instead of using current transformers for current measurement. The output of current sensor module, when observed in an oscilloscope gives AC and DC content in DC coupling mode and sinusoidal AC signal in AC coupling mode. In DC coupling mode the max voltage from current sensor the oscilloscope shows is around 3V while in AC coupling mode the output is my desired AC voltage (around 250mV).

Now the datasheet says that "The input signal to the converter is a fully differential input with a voltage swing of ±919 mV maximum when the gain of the converter is set to 1." So my output voltage in AC coupling mode is well below 919mV but I was not sure whether DC coupling would affect it.

Following are my outputs of oscilloscope,

  • DC coupling mode

  • AC coupling mode

Thanks & Regards,

Avinash
