EVM430-FR6043: Error encountered

Hi Renan,

Is the device showing up under device manager?

Have they tried using UniFlash to flash the device?

Are they able to flash a different program like the simple blink?

If the simple blink works, try flashing the original program again.

Yes, they confirmed that the computer sees the device. They are trying to unflash. it cannot automatically find the msp430fr6043 itself. They choose. and browse the MSP430FR6043EVM_USS_Gas_Demo_EVM_v2_0_AFE3v3_02_30_00_01.txt file from image and get the error in the picture.

How can they flash this file MSP430FR6043EVM_USS_Gas_Demo_EVM_v2_0_AFE3v3_02_30_00_01.txt using jtag port?

Hi Renan,

Stepping aside from the Gas demo just to make sure the device works properly. Can you try using the Blinky Example? Once we get this properly flashed we can move onto the Gas Demo. There are many different ways to flash the device, you can use the JTAG port with Uniflash, you should also be able to use Code Composer Studio (CCS) to flash the device. If it doesn't work in Uniflash, try using CCS.

Uniflash Cannot read property "DS" of undefined is an investigation into that error from a different customer using Uniflash for an ARM MCU. At the end of the referenced thread there is a suggestion to modify the module.js file inside the Uniflash installation to avoid the error.

They tried the blinky example you suggested in ccs. When they upload it to evm430fr6043, they got the error in the picture. Also, led101 turned red on evm430fr6043.

Hi Renan,

The error you are seeing "Error connecting to the target: The Debug Interface to the device has been secured." is because the JTAG interface has been locked. A mass-erase through BSL should unlock the JTAG interface.

Thank you for this response. Do we have a guide on how to do this? Can my customer use segger jtag programmer or tm4c123g devices?

Hi Renan,

You can follow our MSP430 FRAM Devices BSL User's Guide to send the mass erase command. If the tm4c123g can do I2C then you can go through the BSL procedure using the tm4c123g device to send signals through I2C. 

Note: Make sure they invoke BSL before sending the mass erase command, all details are laid out in the BSL user's guide, the Device Family User's Guide, and the device datasheet for pin requirements.
