MSP430FR6007: The data collected by the ADC uses LEA for FFT/Ifft variation issue

Hi team,

For calling LEA to FFT transform the data collected by the ADC, since the ADC is collecting int16_t type data, but TI provides API functions of type _q15/-q31, is it possible for LEA to use the int6_t type directly for benefits change? If not, what else should the customer do? If convert each int16_t type to _q15 type one by one, it is too long to waste.

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Hello Cherry,

Lea is meant t be utilized with the MSP DSP Library This library and LEA's acceleration only works in the Q15 and iQ31 formats as described in the MSP DSPLIB documentation. So yes, you would need to convert ADC results to this format in order to utilize the acceleration and DSPLIB functionality.

Thanks for your reply and the customer also has the 2 additional questions regarding converting ADC results to Q15 and iQ31 formats:

1. Is there an efficient conversion method?

2. Using LEA to process the data acquired by the ADC should be a very common application for this chip. However, the ADC collects integer data, LEA handles Q15 and iQ31, which can cause a serious mismatch, and if the software converts the integer data to Q15 and iQ31 format, dose this will waste the time saved by LEA?
