MSP430FR5994: Floating pins during reset vs current consumption

Part Number: MSP430FR5994

My understanding is that during reset (reset pin asserted), LOCKLPM5 bit is set and thus deactivates all input buffers.

That means floating pins will never lead to increased current consumption during reset.

Please confirm.

If you do agree with my above explanation, what should be the current draw during reset?

Best regards

Frederic

  • Hi Frederic,

First of all, reset may cause current to increase and decrease depending on the mode before reset mode. For example, if the MCU works under LPM3.5 mode before reset, the MCU may reopen the DCO and some othe rmodules to transfer from LPM3.5 to reset mode. So in this case, the current may increase when entering reset mode.

Secondly, the current assumption is 65uA/MHz which is active fram-off mode as the following picture shows and the wakeup time from reset may be 300us.

Feel free to contact me if further questions.

  • I am afraid you did not answer my first question, which is the topic as well.  It is about floating inputs during reset and current consumption.  Please try again.

As for the core consumption itself in reset, it is good to know it depends on previous power state.

Then, I am interested only in reset consumption when coming from a powered off state.  Do you have numbers to share?

Timings are of no interest to me.  Only currents.

    Thank you for your assistance.
