MSP430FR59941: SPI -- garbled characters

Hi Team,

Our customer uses the MSP430 chip as SPI master to transfer characters to nrf52840 chips (slaves), but the received characters always include a garbled character in the most front, it is like a triangle shape. How to remove this?

You have of course read the errata for both devices. In any case, no cure can be suggested without seeing your code although I do suspect a timing issue with the CS signal to the SPI slave.

Hello Carlo,

If you are outputting to a terminal, as I assume form your screenshot, then what you are seeing is the ASCII representation of the data being transferred. You would need to double check the values actually on the SPI lines with a logic analyzer to check if they are ok. Most likely it is the command or payload length byte field that are being sent over and being fed to your terminal.
