When I launch Launchpad_temperature_GUI.exe I get a quickly alternating display of 248 and 128 degrees. These are the only two values that the GUI displays. The values change extremely fast and I've tried placing something cold on the board, but it doesn't change the display. Does this mean that there is something wrong with the board? My other board displays the temperature just fine.
TIA,
Ted Kitch
Indeed, it's strange. It looks like a problem with the bit ordering or so.
the two values are 0x80 and 0xF8. Both look like some transmission error.
It could be, however, a problem with the supply voltage/the reference for the temperatur measurement. It' srather unlikely (but possible) that the temperature sensor itself is broken.
It would be interesting whether any other demo with data transmission actually works on this board (then the serial connection is okay).
Next check would be to test the ADC on an external voltage (or does it properly measure GND/VCC)
What if you use the same pad but switch the processors? Does teh erro rmove with the chip or stay on the same board?
