MSP430FR5043: Programming custom board with Eval board not working

Part Number: MSP430FR5043
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EVM430-FR6043, MSP430FR6043, MSP-FET

Hi,

I'm trying to program a custom board (MSP430FR5043) with the EVM430-FR6043 eval board. I'm working with a simple blinky example to set up the programming.

I'm using the following setup:

- 4-wire JTAG connection as suggested in the datasheet on page 172 with the target sensing. (I'm powering the custom board from its own DC/DC regulator which works at 3.3V)

- Jumper cables to make the JTAG connections

- Code Composer Studio

When I disconnect my custom board, the onboard MCU is flashed normally (after a warning as it is not a MSP430FR5043)

But as soon as I make the JTAG connections, CCS shows the following error:

Here's a picture of the eval board, did I set the jumpers wrong? Do I have to "disconnect" the onboard MCU somehow?

Or is it more likely that there is a hardware defect of my custom PCB?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Best regards,

Sebastian
