How to read launchpad output via the USB on a pc?

Hello,

I read somewhere the test temperature program also outputs data through the USB.
Does anyone have suggestions how I can view this output? Has software been included in one of the platforms for this perhaps?

    The USB interface on the Launchpad is provided for JTAG emulation purposes, although it also provides a back-channel UART over the USB interface; a virtual COM port.

    You can use this Virtual COM port to interact with the target device.  Documentation on this functionality is in the Launchpad User's Guide found on the following wiki article.
