MSP430FR5969-SP: working with ADC128S102WGMPR

Hi Team,

The customer is building a system to be launched to the aerospace and would want to use ADC128S102WGMPR with MSP430FR5969-SP to sample 4 ADC channels with 250kHz.

It looks like the ADC can do 1MHz, so it is possible to have 1M/4 = 250kHz. But the customer is worried about the MSP430 being not fast enough to produce the SPI 16M clock, as well as 16 bits data shift.

Can you confirm whether these two chips can work together or if not, can you suggest some other radiation-hardened microcontrollers can do this work?

Hi Marvin,

The customer is correct. It doesn't look like the FR5969 has the speed to handle the SPI transactions at that measurement rate. Unfortunately, there are no other -SP MSP430s.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the help. Just a follow-up question, Could you help identify the maximum rate using FR5969? the customer is struggling to get the SPI maximum frequency from the datasheet. also, can the FR5969 offer 8MHz clock? what would happen on the ADC side if the clock is below 8MHz?
