Hi,

I am using MSP430F5437A controller for application , i am facing some unknown issue while programming( flashing code into controller )

in my application i am using tool MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool via Spy bi- wire for flashing code in controller, but it is not programming always showing massage JTAG communication Failed .

And i had checked my supplies are good but MCU is not responding . I don't known what will be the issue and how to check my fresh MCU is working or not .Is their any method to check MCU is working before assembling on PCB .

I have assembled 10 PCB in that 4 MCUs are not responding .Please let me know how check it .

I done a lot p2p msp430 boards with bad layout, with erratic chip supply during correct or bad flashing. Lot of dirty out of specification thing, and till today none of this devices fail regarding flashing, without marginal error reported.

Don't use cap value on reset pin higher than 1nf (for sbw is best no cap at all). Use shortest possible sbw cable with lowest sbw speed selected.

Devices can be also somehow locked (not responsible to sbw / jtag entry sequence) due to flashed bad firmware.

Anyway, if factory BSL is untoched, it should be possible to do mass erase by BSL (back device to factory default state).
