MSP430FR2476: Inquiry about Firmware-update and Bootloader.

Hi Experts,

Our customer is interested in MSP430FR2476, I received Inquiry about Firmware-update/Bootloader function of this device.

Customer is asking if this device has Memory swap function for firmware-update. It seems some devices has this function like this link (section 1.3.1).

Can I have your expert’s advice/comments on this inquiry, please?

As far as I checked MSP430 FRAM BSL guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SLAU550 ),  I was not able to reach out. And then, I noticed TI released OAD update guide for MSP430FRAM(  https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SLAA721 ), I don’t believe there is Memory swap function, and, I’m not sure if MSP430FR2476 support this OAD.

It will be really appreciated if you will share your clarification.

    Hello Miyazaki,

    The MSP430FR2476 does not have "swap function" in the device.  The MSP430FRBoot does offer dual image support (see section 2.3.1 in slaa721) and appears similar to the "dual mode" described in section 1.3.1 of the Renesas guide.

    In the SLAA721 document, it does show an example using MSP430FR2433, which is a smaller memory version of the MSP430FR2476, so it should work for the larger memory device.
