I want to make EZ-Fet Lite and reserve USB BSL port for firmware update, but I notice that TI officially provides two hardware layouts, I don't know which one to choose.
The first layout is given by the MSP430F5529 LaunchPad Development Kit(SLAU533), and the second is given by USB Field Firmware Updates on MSP430 MCUS(SLAA452), as shown in the figures. The difference between these two connections lies in the position of the 1M Ohm pull-down resistor. Which connection should I use?
You can use one from LP, but both will work. 1M is to not have floating PUR that erratically can force device to enter BSL mode.
Anyway, if you have some special reason to build eZ-FET by yourself, good. But for 13$ you can buy one, with possibility to have 2 eZ-FET's (one original, and another on 5529 target device) connected to PC by one USB cable.
