MSP430FR4132: Cannot connect MSP-FET with CCS

Hello all, I'm trying to debug with MSP-FET.

When I start debugging with MSP-FET, I get an error message "Error connecting to the target: Unknown device".
What could be the cause of this?

The development environment is CCS version 10.4.0.00006.
The CPU is MSP430FR4132.

The following figure is an excerpt from the circuit diagram.

The 4-wire JTAG and RST,TEST are connected.

Properties are shown in the figure below.

TIMSP430USB1 is selected for connection..

Hi,

Have you tried another MSP430FR4132 device? And check your connector refer to the MSP-FET user's guide and datasheet.

Hi Mr. Allen.

I have done this with other equipment and the results were the same.
I think the circuit connections are fine.
Am I missing some setting in CCS?

Hi Allen.
Using the sample program did not change the result.

The target config's altemate communication is set to Uart communication, is it possible to do JTAG debugging in this state?

Hello.

I have looked at the timing of the debugger connection.
Below is the timing waveform of CH1:RST and CH2:TEST.

This waveform is in BSL Disable SBW mode according to the TEST and RST timings on page 21 of "SLAU320AJ Programming Using the JTAG Interface".
The mode I want to use is 4-Wire JTAG.
What settings are necessary to set BSLDisable 4-Wire JTAG mode?

Hi Yoshiaki,

Thanks for your capture waveform. CCS will automatically try SBW and JTAG communication to decide go into which protocol. The unknow device often because of the communication failure. In the note:

I am not able to find the option to specify JTAG. I may need some time to verify it.

Another thing is that I suggest you post a clear schematic so I could help to review the connection between MSPFET and you device.(I'm still a little suspicious that it's the communication failure).

There is [FAQ] CCSTUDIO-MSP: How to manually select a JTAG interface type in Code Composer Studio (CCS) which might help, as allows the selection of JTAG or SBW to be forced.

I found an error in the artwork on the circuit board and the power supply was not connected.
