MSP430F247: Security Fuse has been blown

We are from Medha Servo Drives Private Limited. We are using one MICRO CONTROLLER,MSP430F247TPM,LQFP-64 of Texas make in our application.

While loading the software in to the controller, we are getting one error message (Security Fuse has been blown) and code is also not loading. Please find the attached error message. After replacing the Micro controller, code is loading and card is getting ok.

Can you please check and inform what are the possible reasons for getting this type of problem. And also please suggest how we can unblock/rectify this Security fuse blown problem.

Hi Deepthi,

The f2xx device using the physical fuse that can't be recover when it been blown. Applying a high voltage(typical 6.5 V ±0.5 V) to the TEST pin (TDI pin for devices without TEST pin) blows an actual physical polyfuse and renders the JTAG interface unusable. So please avoid any high voltage or noise on TEST pin. Yes, but Security Fuse has been blown message can be reported with JTAG fuse untouched (no VPP applied). Also, there is JTAG sequence for blowing JTAG fuse before applying VPP, so it is not enough random spike on TEST pin.

I had this situation with bad flashing, or correct flashing with erratic firmware, but mostly on 5xx/6xx. Don't remember right now about 2xx.
