MSP430I2041: Alternative with more memory

Part Number: MSP430I2041
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F6745A, MSP430FG6425

Hi team,

My name is Simeon Aleksandrov, I am an FAE intern at TI BeNeLux.

We are looking for an alternative for the MSP430I2041. We need higher flash and RAM, however, we would like to keep the 4 channel 24bit sigma delta ADC.

The closest alternative I could find was the MSP430F6745A, but this is quite a high end part, is there a better suggestion you can point me to?

Best Regards,

Simeon Aleksandrov

  • Hi Simeon,

I'd agree with your closest alternative based on their requirements. You can confirm this with our parametric search on ti.com

The MSP430I2041 is our highest end of our metering MCUs, and the MSP430F6745A is on the lower end of our polyphase metering MCUs, but between the two there is a large gap in pin count/package size, peripheral type, and peripheral count such as number of I2C, SPI, and available GPIOs.

If they don't need those additional features and can reduce their flash/RAM requirements the MSP430I2041 would be a better choice.

There are also some additional options with a 16-bit sigma delta ADC, such as the MSP430FG6425, but those would still be more comparable to our polyphase metering ICs than to the MSP430I2041.

  • Hi Brandon,

Thank you very much for the explanation here! :)
