MSP430FR5849: DCO Error

Part Number: MSP430FR5849

Hello,

When I check the electrical characteristics of the DCO in the data sheet,
I see that the DCO error is ±3.5% @ 1MHz.
Is this fixed for each individual device?
For example, ±1% for device A, ±2% for device B, and so on.

Or is there a DCO error per clock?

Or is this DCO error determined at each power supply startup?

Best regards,
DDdoor

  • Hi DDdoor

DCO error is ±3.5% @ 1MHz is fixed (at steady-state) for each individual device at the full temperature range (-40~85C)

This DCO frequency has been trimmed at factory per device.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Xiaodong LI,

    Thanks for the reply.
One more thing related to errors, please tell me about temperature drift.

Is the DCO temperature drift "0.01%/°C" applied to the frequency including error?
(e.g., if the DCO error at 1 MHz is +1% and there is a DCO temperature drift of 10°C, then 1.01*99.9%~1.01*100.1%MHz)

    Best regards,
    DDdoor

  • Hi DDdoor

On DS, DCO temperature drift is 0.01%/ºC.

Your understand is correct. the DCO temperature drift "0.01%/°C" is applied to the frequency including error

DCO error is ±3.5% @ 1MHz at the full temperature range (-40~85C) is specificed.

    Thanks!
