Hi Bernhard,

What version of Windows are you using?

Can you try uninstalling again and ensure that your USS Workspace folder is cleared as well? On windows by default this will be at: C:\Users\<Username>\USS_02_40_00_00\USSWorkspace

You can make a backup of this folder if you want to preserve the contents, but I suspect something in the XML files located there to be invalid.

Hi Brandon,

on the pc in question Windows 10 Pro is installed.

After having uninstalled the program and deleted the workspace directory, I installed anew and could open the GUI once. Closed it without any input/modification and reopened it, but got the same error on this second try.

Can the program cope with German Umlaute like ä, ö, ü?

Ok, I could start the application by using a local account without special characters.

But now I get a java error after a short while.

Installed java is version 8 update 341 (64-bit).

I am running 64-bit Version 8 (albeit an older update), and have not been able to recreate this.

Where is Java installed on your system? The USS Design center System information tab in the "About" dialog box will tell you where the GUI is being pointed to look by the JAVA_HOME variable. 

Can you verify that it matches your version and install location?
