MSP430FR6989 Memory Location 0x0200h does accept data, i.e., #01, is it broken or this location does not accept data. How do I perform a soft reset?

According to the device Datasheet, address 0x0200h is the start of the Port1 peripheral. The register P1IN is at offset 0x00, and that is a read-only register per the User's Guide.
Seth is correct, here is the peripheral, if you need to set the P1 as an input, set it with the P1DIR bit.
