MSP430 FET UIF: No USB FET was found

Greetings Forum,

I decided to upgrade to the latest version of CCS and to get SYS/BIOS. I am able to build apps but unable to debug using the MSP430 FET UIF. (The LaunchPad works fine.)

I see the FET in the WinXP device manager as "MSP430UIF -VCP (COM5)".  Driver version is 6.5.9017.0. When I try:

Target | Launch TI DEbugger, I get:

Error initializing emulator:

No USB FET was found

I don't see a choice anywhere to set the com port in debug. This all used to work so my "improvements" have broken something.

IAR KIckStart has the same problem. It does not show a COM port in the FET Debugger setup.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

  • Problem solved. Applied Occam's Razor principal and started undoing unrelated mods. Removed "ez430rf2500.kext" from OS-X and everything started working again. This pseudo-driver keeps OS-X from grabbing TI USB devices so that MSPDEBUG will be able to grab them. Works fine for LaunchPad, etc. but OS-X TI driver MUST be able to grab FET UIF, etc.

    Thanks Forum.
