MSP430F6747: LCDCAP requirement

Part Number: MSP430F6747

Hi,

My customer is using MSP430F6747 with LCD charge pump enabled.
Now 4.7uF capacitor is connected to LCDCAP.
But customer found the datasheet(SLAS768E) shows min.4.7uF, nom. 4.7uF and max.10uF.

This means using the nom.4.7uF capacitor has potential risk to violate the min.4.7uF as capacitors have some errors.
I guess using 4.7uF should not be an issue but what should customer handle this specification?
Please clarify it.

Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro

  • Hi Koichiro Tashiro,

As you guess, using 4.7uF (with error) will NOT cause some errors. It is considered that LCDCAP is for voltage supply stabilization, so little error of its value will not cause errors. And, our other customers don't give any feedback about this problem.

As for our reference design about LCDCAP, you can find it in here, and it adopts 4.7uf. if customer still concerned, they can refer to it.

    Best Regards

    Sal
