MSP430FR5043: How to use uss tool to test the custom board?

Hi team,

Herr's an issue from the customer may need your help:

Custom boards use the MSP430FR5043.

The code can be downloaded by connecting the following two terminals directly to the corresponding pins of the MSP430FR5043, but the uss tool shows HID Bridge connected --wait for device, meaning the chip is not recognized.

Is it related to the wrong address? What's the I2c address of the device?

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Hi Cherry,

For programming there are 3 options: JTAG, Spy-Bi-Wire (SBW), and BSL. It seems they are wanting to use the I2C BSL. Below is the protocol for I2C BSL, I suggest looking at the MSP430 FRAM Devices BSL User's Guide for a full explanation.

The EVM uses the EZ-FET, which is an on board MSP-FET. The programmer utilizes the SBW interface to do its programming. Did they want to program like the launchpad, or did they want to use the BSL option?

Customers mainly want to use the uss tool to issue parameters, read waveforms, read ADC data, etc. Is there any suggestions?

Hi Cherry,

The I2C BSL section shows the address as 0x48 as it seems they already have that pinned out. It looks like they were using 14, try to update the I2C and let me know if there are any issues. For programming they can use the method that they are most comfortable with.
