ADC10 5xx and 6xx Default Resolution

The User Guide shows that the default resolution for the ADC10 in the 5xx and 6xx families is 8-bits. Is this correct? This seems a bit odd to me. Just to clarify, this means that by default the ADC samples at an 8-bit resolution unless the ADC10RES is set manually.

No. The register description for ADC10CTL2 shows that the ADC10RES bit is set after a POR. It is, however, not reset to 1 after a PUC, if you manually cleared it since last POR.
