MSP430FR5989: LC Sensor Rotation Detection was hang counter.

In page 973 (MSP430FR58xx, MSP430FR59xx, and MSP430FR6xx Family User's Guide): it mean ESIDAC1R2 and ESIDACR3 is  two Reference Voltages of DAC (CH1) to detect metal and non-metal, is it righ?

Yes, it is two reference voltage for CH1.

When you do the test, is the LC sensor board fixed on the meter body? Have you add the recalibration function in the software?

The lc sensor board was designed to fixed on the meter body. I have added the recalibration function, every 30 minute.

Do you think about the reference DAC of my design ? Because when i measure delta between metal and non- metal, delta is 120-140mV ( by  Oscilloscope ), but the DAC delta only 2 or 4.

CH0: ESIDAC1R0=1576, ESIDAC1R1=1578.

CH1: ESIDAC1R2=1708, ESIDAC1R3=1710.

Well, it looks a little wired on those data. How do you read out the DAC data? Through the ESI GUI? Or read these registers in the debug mode?

I got DAC from register ESIDAC1R0, ESIDAC1R1,ESIDAC1R2, ESIDAC1R3, after calibration at first time, i store all register to NFC eeprom then read them by reader.

The ESIDAC1R0/R1 are too close to the ESIDAC1R2/R3 value. And the ESIDAC2R0/R1/R2/R3 are too small. It seems that the recalibration function is not working properly. Which demo code you are using? Does it require rotating the disk during the calibration process?

I am using demo code ESI_INV_CAL_V1_IIC (TIDM-LC-WATERMTR V1).

The recalibration only work when the disk rotate.

I checked  after recalibration, the ESIDAC1R0/R1 and ESIDAC1R2/R3 value never change, only ESIDAC2R0/R1 and ESIDAC2R2/R3 value was change.

Could you physically switch the two LC channels and check whether the data change follows the LC channel. It could tell us whether there are any hardware issues on that channel.

The signal looks normal in those pictures. Well, the calibration still goes abnormal. It might related to the recalibration process in the software. Since you are using the demo code in the app note. Have you tried the ESI-GUI before? And the GUI can generate code based on your configurations. You do not need to connect your board with the GUI. Only use the code generated by it should be enough.

I tried with ESI GUI, it look better.

I have a question, Does the noise value have influence on the measurement?

After run function  TSM_Auto_cal() and Find_Noise_level(), the noise value was difference.

You can see the picture above, the noise value is 1, sometime it is 2,3 or 4.

For my understanding, when the noise level is lower than 1/10 of the (DACR2/R3 - DACR0/R1) should be good enough for measurement. So, the noise level as 1, 2, 3 or 4 indicates that the whole system is at a very low noise environment.
