MSP430FR5969-SP: Does M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS exist?

Part Number: MSP430FR5969-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR5969

Both of the M4FR5969SPHPT-MLS and M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS are listed as options on the TI site.  However, the M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS version appears to be not regularly produced or produced at all.  I cannot find it anywhere or any information on what type of MOQ or lead time difference there is for this RGZ package vs the PHP package.

MSP430FR5969IRGZ[R or T] is ONLY available in the RGZ package.  I intend to use this for prototyping. I would like to be able to use the same PWB layout with the least amount of wonky stuff going on.

Is  M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS a purchasable option?

  • Hello,

For the MSP430FR5969-SP, both the PHP and the RGZ packages have the same pinouts. The difference between the two packages is that the PHP package is leaded and the RGZ package is non-leaded. Therefore, the PHP package should work for prototyping as well.

It is recommended to prototype with the industrial version of MSP430FR5969 [link] as it is functionally equivalent.

If you want to continue with ordering the RGZ package (M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS), please contact your TI Supplier or TI Customer Service for information on lead times and order quantities.

    Thank you,

    Susan

  • The PCB footprints are not the same.  So that does not solve the issue of not having to change the entire PCB layout and repurchasing in order to use either component.

If you nest the RGZ footprint into the PHP with separate pad sets, there is not enough length for a solder fillet that would meet J-STD-001 for the PHP package.

If the MSP430FR5969IRGZ (industrial version) only comes with RGZ, then I would like to try to use the M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS since it is also RGZ.

I spent over half an hour with TI attempting to get information on who I should talk to or who the contact should be for Wisconsin USA without being provided any information or names to discuss options for getting the M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS since it is not available anywhere including on the TI site.

  • Hello,

I understand, I am currently looking into the options for getting the M4FR5969SRGZT-MLS. I hope to have an answer for you by Tuesday.

    Thank you,

    Susan
