Is the MSP430 a CMOS Device?

I ask this because their data sheets label the power supply pins as VCC instead of VDD. The VDD label is typically used for the power supply pin on a CMOS device, while VCC is typically used for RTL, TTL, and ECL devices.

Then what is it? CMOS has been the only way to make low power devices for 50+ years.

In any case, the symbols used by the supply pins are a poor way to distinguish between processes due to inconsistent usage. It is easy to find examples of Vcc on CMOS devices. The CDP1802 and HM6116 come to mind.

Vdd and Vss make sense for NMOS devices since the that matches the way the MOSFET drains and sources are connected. Not so much for CMOS since sources are connected to both rails and drains to outputs.

Thank you for your reply. Please note that I did not state which type of logic the MSP430 is built of, but I was asking what it is built of.

If not a CMOS device, then what is it?
