MSP430F5358: UCS MODULE

Part Number: MSP430F5358

Hi

In the above snippet, i have selected SELREF for XT1CLK and ACLK,MCLK,SMCLK is driven by XT2CLK. In case if my XT2CLK fails then it will go to DCOCLKDIV which is driven by XT1.  And when XT1 fails then it will go to REFCLK.

This is my understanding Is my understanding right? Is this approach right?

  • Hello,

To clarify, when you say you have selected SELREF for XT1CLK, do you mean that XT1CLK is the source for FLL?
In addition, are you using XT1CLK in LF or HF mode?

    Thank you,

    Susan

  • Hi Susan,

To clarify, when you say you have selected SELREF for XT1CLK, do you mean that XT1CLK is the source for FLL?  ----> yes

    XT1CLK is in LF mode.

  • Hello,

How the UCS module works with your setup is like this:

When XT2CLK fails, ACLK, SMCLK, and MCLK will switch to DCOCLKDIV. This will set XT2OFFG, and the system will trigger a NMI.

If XT1CLK fails, then the FLLREFCLK will source from REFO. However, this shouldn't change the settings of the DCO, excluding some percentage of error due to sourcing from REFO. This means that ACLK, SMCLK, and MCLK will still be sourced from DCOCLKDIV.

The failure of XT1CLK sets XT1HFOFFG, and the system triggers a NMI.

    Thank you,

    Susan
