MSP430FR5041: How to write other than specific section in CCS

Hi,

We are considering the following behavior when debugging is started with a section divided by editing the cmd file with CCS.

[Erase other sections excluding that section → Load a new program into the erased section → Debug]

Is the above feasible with CCS?

We plan to put the user parameter in the divided section, and it will disappear when debugging is started with the default, and we want to avoid the trouble of writing the parameter.

Also, if you want to write the program using MSP-Flasher, uniflash, etc., is it possible to achieve the above?

Hey Eevee,

From the link above, I got an understanding on how to place a specific variable in FRAM.

Is it possible to debug by deleting sections other than those where these variables are allocated and loading a new program into the deleted section?

Also, is it possible to do the above with Uniflash as well as CCS?

Hello Eevee,

For the above, you can define the size of the new section and create whole new custom areas of flash. If you want to modify the linker file, you have to use the IDE when you build the code in order to accomplish this.

To do some custom deletion of memory space, you have some options in both Uniflash and CCS. They look like the below:

There is no automatic fill option available, but you can stitch together something utilizing the .txt file that gets loaded into the device.
