MSP430FR5994: wavelet transformation

Part Number: MSP430FR5994

Hi Team,

customer is evaluating new use cases for MSP430FR5994.

They would would like to know whether it is possible to implement wavelet transformation within MSP430, maybe already in the Lea. they have seen that there is limited literature available for this implementation and they were wondering whether there are some example implementations?

Here is wavelet transformation mentioned in TIDA project: Designing with PIR motion detectors: part 1 - Industrial - Technical articles - TI E2E support forums

In their case they would need to perform wavelet transformation for 8 scales (8 frequencies) every 1 ms for 256 sampled point, they were wondering if MSP430 could cope with this in terms of available resources.

Stefan

  • Hi Stefan,

I am not familar with how to process wavelet transformation, here is my suggestions:

For whether MSP430 could handle it, I think following information should be concerned:

    1. ADC sampling and conversion time for the signal (sampling and conversion timing is around 3.6us)

    2. The number of multiplications, divisions, and additions required for each frequency, to perform wavelet transformation to obtain the time required for calculation (Maybe IQmath & LEA can decrease the time cost)

Considering factors 1-2, I think it hard to finish all wavelet transform within 1ms using FR5994.

    Sal
