MSP430 UART Driver simple install?

Hey all,

I'm a electronic design engineer and i'd like to display some of the MSP430s capabilities at work. Is a full install of a IDE the only possible way to get the MSP430 uart driver to work? I currently have it set up on my own PC and it talks serial fine VIA the comm port on the PC... however, this is not the case when I try it at a random presentation computer...ect. Is there any way to get a min driver install such that the computer will recognize the device and be able to talk serial? It is an incredibly painful process to install the IDE on any computer I want to run a GUI on.

Anyone by chance have a fix for this? Help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Sorry, this may have been the wrong place to post this but this is regarding the TI MSP30 Launchpad

You're perfectly right here. This does not mean, however, that we have a solution :)

I dimly remember from a different thread, that after installing CCS, you will find the driver installation package somewhere in the CCS program folder, from where it is called during installation.
If you can locate it, you can call it on any computer without need to install complete CCS.

But this information snippet is just a faint memory.
