MSP430FR2355: Programming Issue

Hi,

I am using the TI MSP-FET Flash emulation tool and code composer, I keep getting the message "Unable to connect to Target" I have checked the connections and power, I have one to one cabling, so TDI is connected to TDI , possibly stupid question, do I need to connect TDI to TDO instead?

The next question is , do I need to change any settings in code composer to make this work?, I have just changed computers and downloaded the latest version of code composer but imported an old project. Am I missing a build setting?

I have also bought a new programmer as I suspected the device.

I'm not sure what else to try, I have never had these problems before.

I am using the latest version of code composer. Is it compatible with the programmer?

Hi,

You can follow the connection in the below figure. No need to change settings on the CCS.

Hi Cash, thank you for the answer, but this seems very odd, why would I connect MCU RST to TDO/TDI? and MCU Test to TCK , I don't understand.

Never Mind, I understand - the pins have multiple definitions. I have actually wired up my MSP430G2230IDR in this manner and it also doesn't program.

To anyone that comes across this question. (1) TDI does connect to TDI , crossover is not required, and (2) check your ribbon cable and make sure that every used pin in the IDC cable is connected correctly !!!

Cash - your figure was perfect and it was exactly how I had wired the MSP430G2230. The problem was that the ribbon cable was damaged, what a waste of time!
