EVM430-FR6043: LCD display works once, then needs reflash (using MSPFlasher.exe) in order to work again

Part Number: EVM430-FR6043

Hi: I'm using the EVM430-FR6043, and I have a question about the LDC display.

If I compile the Gas_Demo_project, and flash the created _.txt  file (using MSPFlasher.exe) , I can enter the "standalone mode" , with the LCD operating, after I press the "select button", which activates the display.

But if I power down, and re-power, the LCD display wont work again.

If I reflash, then it works again, till the next power-down.

This behaviour has been mentioned before, in various cases, but I havent seen the solution for it yet.

Can you suggest how to fix this deficiency ? I imaging a simple code correction, and recompile/reflash ought to fix this.....any help would be appreciated.

regards to all,

Doug

  • Hi Doug,

This should not be the case when you flash the device. When you power cycle the device, the flash should be preserved.

How are you power cycling the device? Are you certain that you aren't clearing the flash? Many of our debug and development tools have optional settings to erase the flash on connection. The MSPFlasher user guide shows an optional setting to erase flash or other portions of the device memory. Are these options de-selected? If you are certain that you are not accidentally erasing the flash somehow, please let me know and we will look further.
