MSP430F448: Problem with surge, please help analyze

Part Number: MSP430F448

Hello,

When we use MSP430F448IPZR for surge testing at a frequency of 2-4kV and 5kHz, using an external crystal oscillator may cause the program to run away and require a power outage, restart, or re program to recover. The chip is not damaged.

Using an internal crystal oscillator will not fly, normal.

May I ask what caused it? Could you please help analyze the possible causes? Thank you!

  • Hi Allen,

To narrow down the possible reasons, I need your help to confirm the following details:

    1. What's the frequency of the crystal oscillator you are using?
    2. Is it a repetitive surge test that you are conducting on the system?
    3. Did you try different crystals to see if the surge test also affects their function?
    4. Would you please share the related software configuration with us?

    Thank you.
